Below are reviews of some of my favorite restaurants in the Historic District
Skidaway Island, Sandfly, Tybee Island and Midtown Savannah.  These
reviews are based on actual visits and details from guests on my tours.

Historic District
The Olde Pink House is one of the most romantic restaurants in south.  
Serving traditional southern fare but with a touch of elegance and
sophistication.  No web site.  912-232-4286  
Reservations are a must.
I'm the good looking fellow in the photo above.  

Leopold's Ice Cream Shoppe is amazing.  Recently ranked #5 in
the world
serving scoops of great ice cream.  The lines move fast.

Vic's On The River great views of the river with good food.  "Vic" is Dr.
Irving Victor, the most interesting urologist you will ever meet.  Piano Bar too.

Vinnie Van Go Go's is at the Franklin Square end of City Market and is
known for great pizza as well as people watching.  Open late.

Soho South Cafe is a great place for lunch in the heart of the historic
district.  I really like the crabcake sandwich.  Nice looking quiche too.  Bull
Street at Liberty.

Noble Fare is truly a special occasion restaurant that will impress.  A
husband and wife team that is unbeatable in Savannah for the food and
service.

Gallery Espresso on Chippewa Square is known as Savannah's "oldest
and most award winning coffee house".  I can attest to a great espresso.  
Great place to take a break.  Located in the middle of the historic district on
Chippewa Square.

Goose Feathers aka Express Cafe & Bakery is a great spot for
breakfast or lunch right off City Market.  Friendly faces and pretty decor
with fresh baked breads and sweets.
 Best Sticky Buns in town.

Parker's Market Urban Gourmet at 222 Drayton Street is open
24/7 and has great food and killer lemonade!  Mighty powerful sweet tea too.  
Very friendly folks in there.  Reminds me of  Harrod's Food Court in London.

DeSoto Hilton has a very nice weekday Southern Buffet Lunch for $14
with no lines.  Tell Ella I said hello.

Papillote (say pappy yacht) is French cuisine to-go and is something
different and delicious.  A bit of Paris in Savannah to be enjoyed in a nearby
square.  Closed Mondays.  218 W. Broughton Street.

Henry's is a nice little diner located behind the Planters Inn that my
friends at the Olde Pink House rave about.  Open daily 6:30AM to 3PM.  Good
basic breakfast & lunch.  Drayton St at E. Congress  (912) 232-6628

J.Christopher's is a great diner near the Cathedral at the corner of
Abercorn and Liberty.  Very good breakfast, lunch and brunch 7 days a week

Tybee Island
The Sundae Cafe' My neighbor owns a house on Tybee and raves about
this place.  Located in a strip center at the big curve so not much atmosphere but
great food.

Stingrays on 14th St. offers some tasty fried seafood.  Lots of grouper on the
sandwich and hot fried Georgia shrimp.

Midtown Savannah
Bella's Italian Café offers some tasty family Italian dishes with the best
pizza in Savannah.  Voted best Italian restaurant.  They've got my vote for 2010.

Seasons Express next to TJ Maxx has great Japanese food at low prices.  
Open until 9 PM (8:30 PM on Sunday), they have the same prices for lunch and
dinner.  I hit it at least once a week for lunch.  (912) 353-9281

Sweet Potatoes is in a strip center at the intersection of Eisenhower Rd and
Waters Ave.  Very good southern fare.  Priced Right.  Park on the little side road.
I love the corn pudding.

Skidaway Island - Isle of Hope - Wormsloe Plantation
Smith Brothers IGA in the Skidaway Island Village offers some tasty in-store
items including some freshed baked baguettes and bagels.  Great wine selection
too.

In the Kroger Shopping Center you will find the Omelette House has a great
breakfast that will fill you up with good food.  Breakfast and lunch only.

Nearby in Sandfly GA - corner of Skidaway Road and Ferguson Ave. you will find
some great spots to eat including some mighty tasty Q and friendly folks at

Tex-Mex café - Jalopeno's.  www.jalopenosinc.com  Good luck finding a parking
place near the building.  Loud, busy, crowded but really good food.

Driftaway Cafe has some great grouper sandwiches and other tasty seafood.
