Below are reviews of some of my favorite restaurants in the Historic District
Skidaway Island, Sandfly, Tybee Island and Midtown Savannah.  These
reviews are based on actual visits and details from guests on my tours.

Historic District
The Olde Pink House is one of the most romantic restaurants in south.  
Serving traditional southern fare but with a touch of elegance and
sophistication.  No web site.  912-232-4286  
Reservations are a must.
I'm the good looking fellow in the photo above.  

Leopold's Ice Cream Shoppe is amazing.  Recently ranked #5 in
the world
serving scoops of great ice cream.  The lines move fast.

Soho South Cafe  has now reopened and still offers their famous
tomato basil soup with the grilled cheese sandwich.  Vegetarian dishes
available.  Now open for dinner Thurs, Fri and Sat. at 12 West Liberty Street.

Public Kitchen is a new addition to the scene and has gotten some very
impressive comments from folks on the tour.  Bull St at E. Liberty  by the
DeSoto Hilton.  Open lunch and dinner.

Noble Fare is truly a special occasion restaurant that will impress.  A
husband and wife team that is unbeatable in Savannah for the food and
service.

Gallery Espresso on Chippewa Square is known as Savannah's "oldest
and most award winning coffee house".  I can attest to a great espresso.  
Great place to take a break.  Located in the middle of the historic district on
Chippewa Square.

Goose Feathers Express Cafe & Bakery is a great spot for
breakfast or lunch right off City Market.  Friendly faces and pretty decor
with fresh baked breads and sweets.
 Best Sticky Buns in town.

Parker's Market Urban Gourmet at 222 Drayton Street is open
24/7 with some mighty tasty treats.  Killer lemonade and great sweet tea.  
The She Crab Soup (Fridays only at lunch) is incredible.  


DeSoto Hilton has a very nice weekday Southern Buffet Lunch for $15
with no lines.  Tell Ella I said hello.  Great fried chicken!

Papillote (say pappy yacht) is French cuisine to-go and is something
different and delicious.  A bit of Paris in Savannah to be enjoyed in a nearby
square.  Closed Mondays.  218 W. Broughton Street.

Henry's is a nice little diner located behind the Planters Inn that my
friends at the Olde Pink House rave about.  Open daily 6:30AM to 3PM.  Good
basic breakfast & lunch.  Drayton St at E. Congress  (912) 232-6628

Spanky's on East River Street claims to have invented the chicken finger.  
I can attest to the fact they are the best fingers on planet Earth.  Really!

J.Christopher's is a great diner near the Cathedral at the corner of
Abercorn and Liberty.  Very good breakfast, lunch and brunch 7 days a week
from 7AM until 2PM.  (912) 236-7497

Tybee Island
The Sundae Cafe' My neighbor owns a house on Tybee and raves about
this place.  Located in a strip center at the big curve so not much atmosphere but
great food.  Caution: it is pricy.

Gerald's Pig and Shrimp has some tasty BBQ pulled pork and ribs with
great fried seafood.  Eat there or pack it up for a picnic on the beach. 1 1/2 miles

Stingrays 14th St on Butler Ave offers some tasty fried seafood.  Great food
and friendly folks   Love the fried Georgia shrimp.

Midtown Savannah
Bella's Italian Café offers some tasty family Italian dishes with the best
pizza in Savannah.  Voted best Italian restaurant.  They've got my vote for 2013.  
Beautiful little restaurant on Habersham St at 60th.

Seasons Express next to TJ Maxx has great Japanese food at low prices.  
Open until 9 PM (8:30 PM on Sunday), they have the same prices for lunch and
dinner.  I hit it at least once a week for lunch.  (912) 353-9281



Skidaway Island - Isle of Hope - Wormsloe Plantation

Smith Brothers IGA in the Skidaway Island Village offers some tasty in-store
items including some freshed baked baguettes and bagels.  Great wine selection
too.

In the Kroger Shopping Center you will find The New Mandarin Wok.   Some
spicy Chinese food.  One order can feed three people or one hungry
construction worker.  Take out only.  912-352-9999.

In Sandfly GA - corner of Skidaway Road and Ferguson Ave. you will find some
great spots to eat including some mighty tasty Q and friendly folks at

Tex-Mex café - Jalopeno's.  www.jalopenosinc.com  Good luck finding a
parking place near the building.  Loud, busy, crowded but really good food.

Driftaway Cafe has some great grouper sandwiches and other tasty seafood.
