Things To Do in Historic Savannah

Email me at exploresavannah@gmail.com if you have any questions
about the sites or to book a tour.

The Cathedral of St. John the Baptist is one of the most
beautiful churches in the world. Admission is free (donations
accepted) and it's a great place to escape the heat.  Take your
camera - photos encouraged.  Open 9 AM to 5 PM.

Colonial Park Cemetery is a hauntingly pleasant way to
stroll through time as read the markers and monuments.
It's 1 block north (toward the river) from the Cathedral.
Open from 8 AM to 5 PM.

The Owens-Thomas House is THE mansion to tour in
Savannah.  Built between 1816 and 1818, it has been fabulously
restored by the Telfair Academy of Arts and Science.
$10 admission - a great deal. Located on Oglethorpe Square.

The First African Baptist Church on Franklin Square has
an incredible history.  With luck you can cajole one of the
church members to give you a tour.  Great story.

A walk down Bull Street from City Hall to Forsyth Park will
keep you entranced in Savannah's history.
 The Green
Meldrim House
in Madison Square and the fountain (circa
1859) in Forsyth Park
are two of my favorite stops.

If Bonaventure Cemetery was within walking distance of the
historic district it would easily be #1 on my list.  Absolutely
beautiful.  It is a Victorian Sculpture Garden where they
happened to bury people.  Pack a picnic and spend the day.
Private tours available for Bonaventure Cemetery.
